Dazzling Diana explains the word "Zoomer"

If you are reading my first post, you have been personally invited (welcome!) and you are now part of the world of the *"conscious acceleration of (our collective) evolution". Consider yourself a member of my tribe, and of the vanguard! Yes, dissenters are welcome. Please be polite. I am (unless severely provoked) exquisitely so, as my friends and my enemies will attest. I insist that you be too please. Being rude only reflects back upon you.

News flash: Globally, "Baby Boomers" rebel and relabel themselves "Zoomers"!

None of us care for the language of the infantile term "baby" and "boomer". Why should we continue to put up with it!?! We loath words attached to the label like "old" . Especially as the demographic tacitly includes the "Generation Jones" crowd (another stupid label we need to tackle) born between the years of '53 & '66. Other euphemisms such as "elderly" "senior" or the under-defined word "mature" are equally annoying and most times inappropriate. Then there are those attempts at re-definition such as "reboot and retread". Please, my nerves. Language can be a problem and one solves the problem by evolving the language to fit the times. Approximately one third of Canada's population is over 50. There are more then 78 million people in the USA between the ages of 42 and 61. Add the collective of those 60 years plus and the numbers are so staggering, the mind reels with the POWER and CLOUT that this implies.

I am turning 55 next month. I've taken very good care of myself, and have been well cared for too! My body is (at least) as attractive, healthy and fit as it was when I was forty. My mind is as sharp as a "Wilkinson Sword Blade", as is my wit and wisdom. My euphemism for my libido is delicious and 75% of my closest friends are under the age of 45.

I am fortunate to have a cherished friend in Toronto by the name of Moses Znaimer. We were introduced to one another more then 34 years ago, and are ten years apart in age. Moses is an entrepreneurial visionary of astonishing capability, and stellar successes. Go ahead. Google him. If you do it now you will forget to return to me! It is he who has coined the word "Zoomer" in a manner that I believe succinctly redefines the status of the world's most collective and powerful populous. Me included. As the new executive director of CARP ( Canada's Association for the 50-Plus) he is re-branding us along with himself. In his own words;

"I have the body of a healthy 65-year old, the mind of a 45-year old, the libido of a 25 year old, and the heart of a teenager.

**Let a Million Zoomers Bloom

Unlike our own parents, we cannot presume

To know how long we'll have from the womb to the tomb,

And it's clear there's some colour left still on the bloom -

Time to Zoom

We're not ready yet for a comfortable room

Hell, we're just getting over our sophomore gloom

We're tired of endlessly bracing for doom

The atomic-bomb Babies who didn't go BOOM

Want to ZOOM ...

So. Now you have a new word, an important word to add to your lexicon. Lose the word "Boomer" please and re-place it with "Zoomer". Spread the word. Embrace the future now because if you are not on the rocket, it's going to leave without you and

the countdown has begun.

There will be more posts about the future that is now, please check back! It is my 1st go at this ~ so kindly bear with me as I tweak and twitter with my "me myself and i :)

** As above, although it is not clear from the article if the poem was written by Moses, or Spider. I will ask and report back.
